Charleston Estate Auctions offers lifetime local collection April 10
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Estate Auctions will bring a taste of historic Charleston to the auction block on Sunday, April 10. All items featured in this auction come from a grand downtown Charleston Charlotte Street residence.
This Charleston family spent a lifetime amassing a remarkable collection of unique pieces. The auction exhibits an exceptional collection of fine and antique furniture, unique bronzes, Asian porcelain and art, rare wall and mantel clocks, as well as, a wide variety of home décor.

An original bronze sculpture, Splash, by award-winning artist Sandra J. Koop comes with high expectations. The monumental bronze (below), created using the lost wax method casting, is mounted on a green marble base and numbered No. 83 of 299. It stands 35 inches high and has a retail value of $19,000-$20,000.
Another standout is a large Maitland Smith bronze octopus, which serves as a wine bottle holder. These were only produced for a short time, in a limited number and are extremely hard to find. For 30 years Maitland-Smith has been in the business of creating exquisite and unique decorative accessories, lighting and accent furniture. The bronze creature has an estimate of $3,500-$5,500.
