CHARLESTON — Charleston Estate Auctions has announced highlights of their March 28 Southern Estates sale, which features American and European fine art, silver, porcelain, furniture and more. Absentee and Internet live bidding is provided by LiveAuctioneers. The auction is led by a large group of American and European fine art, including two original oils by William Aiken Walker (Charleston, 1838-1921), shown at the top of this page.

Dozens of lots of beautiful antique silver will be offered, including an 1864 English sterling silver tea and coffee service by Edward & John Barnard, London. The four-piece set — each piece of baluster form — is chased and engraved, but each cartouche is blank with no monograms, a feature that would appeal to some collectors. From a Charleston estate, the service has a total approximate weight of 2210 grams and is estimated at $3,500-$4,000.
