Choice French vintages served at Clars Wines Auction, Feb. 9
OAKLAND, Calif. – On Thursday, February 9, Clars Wines Auction will offer choice bottles from the private family collection of Steven B. Sharp. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Steven B. Sharp, an avid wine collector from San Francisco, is well known for donating portions of his vast cellar to fund education. The donated collections included the famed years of ’45, ’47, ’59 and ’61 vintage Burgundies and Bordeaux.
Clars Wines is excited to offer some of these bottles from his family estate including bottles of 1945 Chateau Haut Brion (100 points WA), 1947 Chateau Montrose (98 points WA), 1959 Chateau Mouton Rothschild (100 points WA, JS & Vinous ), 1959 Chateau d’Yquem (97 points Vinous & WS), 1961 Chateau Ausone, 1964 Petrus (99 points WA & Vinous) and a host of collectable wines from California (Opus, Caymus Special Select), Germany and Italy.
Further highlights of the sale are wines from a long-time veteran San Francisco sommelier that includes 1989 Chateau Cheval Blanc, 1986 Chateau Palmer, a magnum of 2000 Alain Voge Cornas, a signed magnum of 2002 Littorai Hirsch Pinot Noir, 2004 Dom Perignon Champagne and a host of Clars handpicked collections featuring curated wines from Napa Valley to Piedmont.

Also on the auction block are an additional set of lots from an employee of the critically acclaimed Peter Michael Winery, including verticals of the 100 point Point Rouge Chardonnay, the famed and high scoring Les Pavot Cabernet and single vineyard Au Paradis, and even some large format offerings in perfect cellar storage conditions.
