Clars auction July 12 features Salvador Dali watercolor

OAKLAND, Calif. – Clars Auction Gallery will be presenting property from a prominent Woodside Estate on July 12, which features a collection of works by Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) led by Victory: The Spanish War, 1947, watercolor and India ink on Strathmore paper, estimated at $60,000-$90,000. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The estate will also feature an investment-level collection of Pre-Columbian art including a pair of Jalisco, West Mexico figures, ex Ron Messick Fine Arts, Santa Fe N.M., estimated at $6,000-$9,000. Highlights from the grouping also include many museum-quality examples from Jalisco, Veracruz, Maya and Nayarit cultures.

There will be several fine art highlights such as an Anna Richards Brewster (American, 1870-1952) Sidi-Bou-Said, Tunisia, circa 1926, oil on canvas, which is expected to sell for $5,000-$7,000 (one of two to be offered)[2155], as well as a David Peretz (French, 1906-1982,) Sunflowers, oil on canvas, circa 1955, valued at $5,000-$7,000 (one of three to be offered).

There will be an assortment of 20th century design including a Finn Juhl Bwana chair estimated at $3,000-5,000 [2287], a set of six Robert Erickson chairs at $3,000-$5,000 and a T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings no.1784 coffee table estimated at $3,500-4,500.
The auction will feature fine Asian art, including a SanCai lotus-bloom lobed oval dish, Liao Dynasty, valued at $5,000-$7,000 (provenance: John Sparks Ltd., London, label). Also to be offered is a well-matched pair of SanCai petal-rimmed lobed dishes, Liao Dynasty, estimated at $3,000-$5,000.
Clars Fine Jewelry and Timepieces Department will offer a large selection of diamond, colored stone and gold jewelry in their July sale as well as an important selection of fine and collectible wristwatches.
Highlights of the sale include a stunning 6.45-carat Sri Lankan sapphire, diamond and 18K yellow gold ring accompanied by an AGL report and estimated at $8,000-$10,000. Also available is a 12.65-carat cat’s-eye chrysoberyl with a prominent cat’s eye and mounted in an 18k yellow gold ring mounting. This lot is accompanied by an AGL report and is estimated at $10,000-$12,000.

Clars is offering a large selection of luxury wristwatches by makers such as Breguet, Blancpain, Chopard, Breitling, Vacheron Constantin and Parmigiani Fleurier [2872]. Highlights of the collection include a limited edition Breguet Reine de Naples wristwatch featuring an exquisitely enameled dial with a baby panda and mother, with an estimate of $35,000-$45,000. A mother of pearl Breguet Reine de Naples wristwatch with moonphase dial carries an estimate of $20,000-$25,000 and a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 Galaxy 18K rose gold wristwatch with a dazzling aventurine bleue dial, estimated at $18,000-$20,000.
