Colorful decorative art offered in online auction Jan. 20

NEW YORK – Jasper52 will conduct another online auction of decorative art on Wednesday, Jan. 20. More than 200 lots of high-quality glass, metalware, figurines, pottery and porcelain objects will be offered. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

Fans of midcentury modern will be intrigued with a blown cased-glass vase in clear crystal with ruby accents. The substantial glass masterpiece measures 10 inches in diameter and has a $120-$150.

Also made in the 20th century is a Rookwood Pottery bowl or vase that will complement any Arts and Crafts interior. The piece measures 4½ inches in diameter by 2 inches high and bears the Rookwood trademark with the Roman numerals XXI for 1921 (est. $150-$200).

A lakeside cottage is pictured on a transfer-decorated Wedgwood dinner plate, an example of Aesthetic Movement design from the mid-19th century. The 9-inch plate is in excellent condition (est. $150-$200).

Also from the mid-19th century is an oil painting of two chickens sizing up a frog that has hopped into their feeder. The small painting is signed “Aug Muller, Munich” (est. $3,000-$3,500). August Muller was active in Germany from about 1836 to 1885.

A contemporary work in the sale is a mother of pearl shell carved in a dragon motif. The intricately carved shell, done by a Balinese artisan, measures about 9 by 7½ inches (est. $250-$300). It comes with a wooden display stand.
