LONDON – AntikBar will be hold their next vintage poster auction on Saturday, Sept. 30, starting online at 3 p.m. (UK time). This auction will feature over 400 posters including a unique collection of 1960-1970s Cuban propaganda and movie posters in addition to a wide variety of posters covering all subjects from around the world – travel, cinema, sport, advertising, war, propaganda. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The auctioneer says that new and experienced collectors and dealers can benefit from the low starting prices with no reserves.
“This unique collection includes propaganda posters printed by the Organization of Solidarity with the People of Asia Africa and Latin America (OSPAAAL), founded in Havana Cuba in 1966 as a political movement to fight imperialism. One of them is a rare foldout poster that opens up to depict Richard Nixon as a vampire (below). These Cuban posters are primarily hand-printed silkscreen posters so the print runs were low,” said Kirill Kalinin, founder of AntikBar.
“We also have an assortment of other interesting and historically significant lots spanning almost a century from the early 1900s, including World War I, Empire Marketing Board and Disney movie posters,” added Kalinin.
AntikBar specializes in original vintage posters covering all subjects from around the world – travel, advertising, sport, cinema, war, propaganda – mainly from the late 1800s to 1970s.
