NEW YORK – A Jasper52 online auction that will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 26, consists of more than 40 fine knives made of Damascus steel and various materials that complement the high-quality metal. These knives make fantastic gifts and brilliant showcase pieces. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.

Damascus knives are durable, look great and keep their sharpness. Damascus steel is a high-quality alloy that produces an excellent edge and cutting ability. The knife has a long service life. The blade does not need frequent sharpening and can serve its owner for decades.

A karambit is a small Indonesian curved knife resembling a claw. According to folklore, the form was inspired by the claws of a tiger. The example in the auction (above) has an orangewood handle and a 4-inch-long blade (est. $600-$900).

A beautifully crafted knife having an 8.6-inch blade and a brass and wooden handle (below) has an $800-$1,100 estimate.
