Daredevil leads superheroes in comic book sale Feb. 12
NEW YORK – Jasper52 will sell 112 vintage comic books, many from the industry’s Silver Age (circa 1956-1970), in a no-reserve online auction on Friday, Feb. 12. Because this auction has no reserves, the high bidder on each lot will prevail. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
Daredevil fans looking to fill out their collections have 27 different titles to vie for starting with issue #16 (May 1965). “The Man Without Fear” shares the cover of that issue with Spider-Man (above).
Another Marvel mainstay, Captain America, earned his own comic book title, taking over Tales of Suspense with issue #100 in April 1968. “Cap” is featured on the cover leading fellow Marvel Comics superheroes into the fray.
DC Comics is represented with issue #251 of Batman, a 20-cent comic book in Very Good+ condition. Its cover teases readers: “Look out, Gotham! The Joker’s back in town!”
Green Lantern #76 marks the first issue of a series by Neal Adams that teamed the title character with Green Arrow. The DC superheroes traveled through America encountering “real world” issues.
The auction will close with the #1 issue of Homer, the Happy Ghost, which debuted in November 1969. The Marvel title bowed out with issue #22. The #1 issue offered in the auction has a CGC grade of 8.5.
The Jasper52 online auction of No Reserve Rare Comics will be held Friday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. Eastern.
