Other prizes are identified solely by their era of manufacture, such as a Victorian Burmese sapphire ring with 4.41 carats of diamonds; a nine-strand Edwardian pearl and diamond collar necklace; a pair of Art Deco jadeite, diamond and rock crystal drop earrings in 18K white gold; and a contemporary 18K gold signet-style ring set with an old cut pink sapphire.
First among the highlights is a Hermes 18K gold and silver link collar necklace that dates to the 1970s. It measures 38cm, or almost 15in long, and sports a box clasp. It is estimated at $42,000-$50,000.
A second strong contender is a pair of 18K white gold Art Deco-era drop earrings with 17.70 carats of jadeite, accompanied by diamonds, rock crystal and a few rubies. This impressive piece of statement jewelry carries an estimate of $20,000-$24,000.
Completing the highlights is an Art Nouveau-era brooch by French jeweler Gaston Lafitte, which takes the form of a dragonfly. Opals decorate its wings and eyes; its body is fashioned from 18K gold; a vibrant green tsavorite garnet dots its center; and it sparkles overall with diamonds. It is estimated at $90,000-$108,000.
