Decorative art auction Feb. 25 reprises Art Nouveau, Deco
NEW YORK – A Jasper52 online auction on Tuesday, Feb. 25, recalls the luxury and glamour of the most iconic eras in history with a specially curated collection of Art Deco and Art Nouveau. A combination of lighting and sculpture is found in a Gerdago-style girl pixie Harlequin figural mantel lamp (above) by J.B. Hirsch. The lamp base is constructed of alabaster stone and has two alabaster shades resting on Lumiere-style bases. It is expected to sell for $2,000-$2,500.
Custom-made for a lighting gallery in Los Angeles, an impressive pair of Art Deco-style table lamps in the auction originally retailed for $4,800. These showroom samples of polished nickel and glass were never installed (est. $2,000-$2,500).
An antique Art Nouveau bronze figurine of a young woman sitting on a stool and holding a lyre measures 11 inches high by 10 inches wide. The object is signed “HABECF” (est. $1,200-$1,500).
Another antique from the turn of the 20th century is an 8-inch-tall Amphora pottery vase decorated with silver applique and purple grapes. It is signed and stamped “56” and has EDDA marks ($1,500-$2,000).
Another fine piece exuding Art Nouveau styling is a vanity mirror with a solid brass frame standing 16 inches high by 9 inches wide. The mirror is a high-quality vintage European reproduction (est. $200-$250).
