NEW YORK – An immense collection of Georg Jensen silver – a virtual catalogue raisonné of the Danish silversmith’s 95 years of production – will be offered May 16 in an online auction conducted through Last Chance by LiveAuctioneers.

A true connoisseur’s collection, it consists of 163 lots that range from flatware and hollow ware to jewelry and one-of-a-kind commissioned items, all exhibiting the fine workmanship that made Georg Jensen famous.

The breadth of the collection must be seen to be believed and includes even the most “optional” of pieces (caviar spoon, marrow scoop, tomato server, caviar server, marmalade spoon, stuffing spoon, cream soup spoon, grape shears, etc).

Styles cover Jensen’s entire design spectrum, from earlier and now-classic Art Nouveau creations to the more contemporary Art Moderne pieces of the 1950s.

While many rare pieces in the auction are highly coveted, the seller expects price points will be accessible to both collectors and end users.

The collector who hand-selected the silver was a world traveler, and some of the pieces have import hallmarks.
