NEW YORK – Doyle will hold an auction of Asian Works of Art on Monday, March 21 at 10 am Eastern time. Scheduled during Asia Week New York 2022, this highly-anticipated 414-lot sale presents the arts of China, Japan and elsewhere in Asia dating from the Neolithic period through the 20th century. Showcased will be porcelains, bronzes, jades, snuff bottles, pottery, scholar’s objects, furniture and paintings from prominent collections and estates. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Property from the Collection of Steven J. Harvis

A featured section of the March 21 auction comprising lots 217 through 266 will showcase property from the collection of Steven J. Harvis. Now retired, Harvis was a Manhattan attorney for 50 years and built, as the senior partner, a national and international law firm.

He has been collecting, studying and dealing in Chinese works of art from the Shang dynasty through the Republic period for more than 35 years. His relationship with the Chinese art departments at major New York auction houses goes back more than 30 years. Harvis was involved in the cataloging, research and authorship of the descriptions of each of the pieces of his collection being offered at Doyle.
