Doyle New York presents three major jewelry collections, March 25

NEW YORK, NY — Doyle‘s “Important Jewelry” auction slated for Thursday, March 25 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern will showcase luxurious jewelry spanning a century of design by the world’s most prestigious makers, including Cartier, David Webb, Van Cleef & Arpels, JAR, Seaman Schepps, Harry Winston and Tiffany & Co. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

The selection features dazzling rings, necklaces, brooches and bracelets set with diamonds, colored stones, jade and natural pearls, as well as gold jewelry, gentlemen’s accessories and objets de vertu. An elegant array of fine watches includes coveted designs by Cartier and Chopard.

The sale is comprised of three major estate collections being offered publicly for the first time. Many premier items are from the Betty Isreal collection. She had a keen eye for design, both in the way she dressed and how she decorated her home. Chanel, Prada, Donna Karen and Brunello Cucinelli filled the racks in her closet alongside sportswear by J.Crew, Gap and Old Navy. She knew what she liked and made it her own.

Betty had similarly individual taste in decorating her home. She created a space that truly represented all that she found interesting and beautiful over the years, with objects that were uniquely eclectic and full of life and wonder. Betty was married to her best friend, Seymour Isreal, for 23 years. They were a wonderful couple who clearly respected and loved each other. Seymour was smitten with Betty, and Betty adored Seymour. They cherished their time together.

Mildred Cunningham Brinn was a role model and counselor to many people and cultural institutions, including the American Ballet Theatre (where she served as trustee for more than 40 years and was a long-time vice chair) and the Skowhegan School of Art (trustee from 1977 to 2020 and chair emerita). She was a life trustee and chair emeritus of the Parrish Art Museum and served many years as a board member of the Southampton Fresh Air Home and Southampton Hospital, and the Metropolitan Club in New York.

A longtime resident of Morristown, New Jersey, Catherine Ann Moore Cavanaugh was the author of four books about the history of Morristown and its environs. Mrs. Cavanaugh was an honorary trustee of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation and trustee of the Morristown Green. In addition, she had been a trustee of the Washington Association of New Jersey. She served on the boards of Historic Speedwell, Macculloch Hall Museum, and the New Jersey Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s grandfather, Ernst Thalmann, established the influential private banking firm Ladenburg Thalmann in 1876.

Doyle’s auction will commence at 12:00 noon Eastern on Wednesday, March 25. Absentee and Internet live bidding are available through LiveAuctioneers.
