DuMouchelles to sell 1,500-plus lots at 3-day auction, Dec. 11-12-13

DETROIT – DuMouchelles will be selling more than 1,500 lots of fine art, antiques and estate jewelry at their three-day auction beginning Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Eastern. LiveAuctioneers will provide Internet live bidding.

Friday’s session will start off, however, with the sale of a 1985 Mercedes 500SEL stretch limousine having approximately 50,000 miles. It is expected to sell for $7,000-$9,000.

Nearly as big is a Baker breakfront china cabinet measuring 90 inches high, 93 inches wide and 15 inches deep. It has four glass doors with a moiré back panel, framed glass shelves, three trays beneath the upper cabinet with brass pulls. The base has four doors. This classic Baker breakfront has an estimate of $12,000-$15,000.

Saturday’s session will commence at 11 a.m. Eastern with the sale of a Minton slip-painted moon flasks in brilliant turquoise color, painted on both sides in color slip. The 12 1/2-inch tall flasks are cipher dated 1882 and 1883. The pair has a $2,500-$3,500 estimate.

Also selling Saturday is a bronze bull by French sculptor Isidore Jules Bonheur (1827-1901). The standing bull is 14 inches high, 24 inches long and 8ight inches deep.

The auction will wrap up Sunday with more than 200 works of 19th- and 20th-century oils, watercolors, drawings and graphics. An Andre Lhote (French, 1885-1962) oil on canvas of a woman titled Farrow is 21 1/4 inches by 24 3/4 inches and has a $25.000-$35,000 estimate. Sunday’s auction will begin at noon Eastern.

A bold John Miro aquatint, 40 1/2 inches by 26 inches, an artist proof from an edition of 75, carries a $15,000-$20,000 estimate.
