East Coast sources contribute to Charleston Estate Auctions event Sept. 25

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Estate Auctions will present The First Fall Auction – a live online auction to be held on Sept. 25 a 1 p.m. Eastern in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The auction offers notable fine art from the private collection of a Washington, D.C. collector; exceptional items from the Charlotte Street, (Charleston) Residence; a lifetime Beaufort, S.C. collector as well as the estate of a Litchfield, Conn. antique dealer.

Persian rugs in the sale include a room-size traditional Sarouk (above), approximately 18 by 13 feet, circa 1902, which is estimated at $2,000-$3,000.

Topping the furniture lineup is a 19th century figured and inlaid mahogany breakfront secretary bookcase by B. Cohen & Sons Ltd. of London (below). Built in two sections, it features a split swan-neck pierced pediment over an inlaid strung cornice and four astragal glazed doors.

There’s even a large 18th century portrait of Queen Anne in the original period gilt wood frame.
