NEW YORK – On Thursday, May 26, Capsule Auctions will present two sales, including one titled Limelight: Contemporary Art and Photography, which will begin at 2 pm Eastern time. It will feature a curated selection of contemporary art, photography, paintings, works on paper, sculpture and editions from New York and New England estates and collections. Original works by Arman, Milton Resnick, Ed Mell, Herbert Ferber and Thomas Ruff appear in the lineup. This eclectic mix of pieces spans the creative spectrum in color, shape and medium. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The sale features two works from the artist Arman, the French-born painter who was one of the founders of the Nouveaux Realistes movement and a contemporary of Yves Klein and Jean Tinguely. Magnetism II, estimated at $50,000-$70,000, is a work that follows the artist’s preoccupation with the intersection of musical instruments and paint splatter, while Shortened Trip is a reverse trompe l’oeil exemplative of decollage.

A compelling highlight of the sale is a number of works by Milton Resnick from the collection of Mor Pipman, his former assistant. His signature density of pigment is seen in Luna from 1964, estimated at $30,000-$40,000, and Untitled from 1983, both signed on the verso.
