NEW YORK – On Tuesday, August 23, starting at 1 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will conduct a sale of Classic to Modern Jewelry and Stones. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Outsize gemstones, some loose but most set into jewelry, appear throughout the 300-lot auction. Of particular note is a massive 140.01-carat aquamarine strung on an 18K white gold necklace with a platinum frame; a 49.73-carat unheated star sapphire in a sugarloaf cut, showcased in an 18K white gold ring; another ring of the same precious metal, centering a sapphire, this one a deep green-blue 17.64-carat natural stone in an octagonal emerald cut; and an absolutely huge loose cushion cut natural aquamarine that weighs 157.55 carats.
Other standouts include a platinum, diamond and emerald pin with six carats of Colombian emeralds; an 18K white gold bolo cluster necklace centered on a 1.62-carat natural sapphire in an alluring shade of royal blue; a 14K gold tennis bracelet with almost 20 carats of rubies; an 18K white gold multi-gem cuff bracelet dotted with peridot, amethyst, garnet, tanzanite, aquamarine and blue zircon; a 14K gold yard bracelet featuring 8.00 carats of oval cut emeralds and 1.40 carats of natural round diamonds; and a handmade 18K gold sapphire, emerald and diamond pin.
Highlights from this heavily laden auction include a 22in 18K white gold bolo cluster necklace that surrounds a 1.62-carat natural sapphire with 16 carats of natural round diamonds. In addition, the dangling ends of the bolo design terminate in a .40-carat natural pear shaped diamond and a .90-carat natural pear shape diamond, respectively. The oval cut royal blue sapphire is GIA-certified, as are other stones in the piece, which is estimated at $32,000-$38,000.
Equally worthy of mention is a handmade, markedly angular and geometric pin fashioned from 18K gold and decorated with 2.00 carats of natural diamonds, 1.55 carats of natural baguette sapphires and a 1.50-carat natural emerald at its heart. The lot notes describe the piece as “Very Well Made.” Its estimate is $6,000-$7,000.
The third and final highlight is a dynamic stunner of a piece, whose designer is, sadly, unknown. The GIA-certified platinum estate pin boasts six carats of vivid green Colombian emeralds, a 1.07-carat natural Fancy brown green yellow round cut diamond and 5.50 carats of round white diamonds. It carries an estimate of $12,000-$14,000.
