NEW YORK – A Gucci strawberry-print handbag, a Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere 50B silver glitter Damier pattern duffle bag, and a vintage Hermes Depeches unisex work bag will likely earn top lot status at Jasper52’s Exclusive Designer Handbags and Clutches auction, which will take place on Wednesday, August 31 at 8 pm Eastern time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Many of the great brands are present, including Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Christian Dior, Chanel, Goyard, Burberry, Balenciaga and Christian Louboutin. Perhaps surprisingly, the lineup contains a generous selection of backpacks that includes a multi-color Chanel CC Foulard quilted printed backpack; a unisex leather backpack by Coach; a Louis Vuitton men’s backpack in navy blue monogram leather; a gunmetal gray Christian Louboutin leather backpack with a shoulder strap and fringes on each side; a Hermes Cityback 27 backpack in Taurillon Colvert leather; and a Loewe navy blue calfskin leather drawstring rucksack that can be worn as a backpack.
Balenciaga choices include a painted light blue and white denim hourglass small crossbody handbag as well as a women’s black calfskin triangle duffle. Christian Dior lots include several Lady Dior bags, led by a Mini Lady Dior blue cannage satin handbag with rhinestones; and also a Boston metal handbag and a tote bag in a fanciful camouflage pattern.
Additional Louis Vuitton contributions include a yellow Brentwood monogram handbag in Vernis patent leather; a GO-14 mini malletage lambskin bag in an alluring shade of red; a pale pink patent leather Mini Alma bag; and an Avalon monogram bag in white Vernis leather.
First among the highlights is a Gucci strawberry-print medium zumi interlocking bag with a GG horsebit top handle, estimated at $4,000-$5,000. Its removable, adjustable strap measures 34 to 40in long and its gold and silver hardware show minimal scratching. The pre-owned piece is described in the lot notes as “Very good, well maintained, shows minor signs of wear.”
Also bound to spark serious bidding is a new Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere 50B duffle bag in a silver glitter Damier pattern. According to the lot notes, “This Keepall 50 Bandouliere is made from Glitter Leather, a shimmery cowhide leather featuring the emblematic Damier checkerboard, and trimmed with the same shiny leather but without the Damier pattern. Evocative of a disco ball, the bag is part of the Glitter capsule collection, Virgil Abloh’s homage to the nightlife of the 1990s.” It is estimated at $9,000-$11,000.
The final highlight is a circa-1998 Hermes Depeches unisex work bag in hammered turquoise leather with gold-colored hardware. The lot notes state “It has small spots on the inside and slight scratches on the leather, but the general condition is very good.” It carries an estimate of $6,400-$6,600.
