One of the most eye-catching pieces in the sale is a beautiful electroplated bronze statue in the form of a rhino. Its details — from the folds on its torso and legs to the large and smaller horns on its head — are breathtakingly realistic. So is the fearsome expression on its face. The bronze stands 10.236 x 3.15 x 5.512 inches, and it weights 709.0 grams. It comes to auction with an estimate of $400-$500.

Large slice of petrified wood with included stand. Origin: Indonesia, 20.44-23.03 years ago. Estimate: $300-$350

A conversation piece dating to Neogene-Miocene Period, Aquitanian Stage (20.44-23.03 million years ago), a large slide of petrified wood that originated in Indonesia is presented on an included stand. Petrified wood was created when trees fell over and subsequently were buried under a layer of soil or sand, often due to a natural disaster. The colors seen in petrified wood depend on the minerals in the soil or sand. Each mineral creates its own color. The process of “petrification” ensures that all characteristics such as knots, bark and annual rings are preserved. The petrified wood specimen in Jasper52’s September 30 auction is expected to sell for $300-$350.

Elegant antique silver highlights the sale, as well. One of the top entries is a 19th-century Victorian sterling silver tea and coffee tray made in 1885 by Frederick Elkington. The gallery tray has and oval beaded border and applied ebony handles, and its decorations include floral garlands and ribbons. The center base of the tray displays a hand-engraved cartouche surrounded by an outer band of stunning floral hand engraving. The tray measures 28 by 15.25 inches, and its total weight is 108ozt/3375g. The auction estimate is $6,000-$7,000.

The 124-lot online-only auction starts at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
