NEW YORK – Antique clocks, bronze figures, ceramics and silver are just a few of the treasures offered in a Jasper52 Exquisite Decorative Arts Auction on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
An early 18th century bust of the god Dionysius is carved of Greek Thassos marble and is mounted on a Lumachella marble base (above). The mythological figure, god of ecstasy, wine, intoxication and liberation of the senses, stands 29¼ inches high and is expected to sell for $6,000-$7,000.
Assigned one of the highest estimates in the auction at $16,800-$24,000 is an Empire figural clock from the mid 19th century. The beautiful 14-inch-tall clock is in working order.
An early 20th century Japanese pottery vase in the auction is a classic example of Satsuma. This highly decorated 14½-inch vase has a $3,325-$4,750 estimate.
Numerous bronze figures and sculptures are offered in the auction, including an 8½-inch Buddha figure seated in the lotus position (est. $2,975-$4,250).
Phoenix birds in high relief decorate an 8-inch silver vase that was crafted in China in the 1950s (est. $3,290-$4700).
