Festive colors, top designers set off fine jewelry auction Dec. 18

NEW YORK – All the dazzling colors of the holiday season can be found in an outstanding jewelry auction presented through Jasper52 on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Choices range from an elegant Van Cleef & Arpels pearl and diamond brooch to a colorful Cartier chrysoprase, coral and diamond ring. Perhaps the most stunning piece is a 14K white gold, alexandrite and diamond necklace estimated at $52,000-$55,000. The 16-inch-long necklace contains 105 IGI-certified alexandrite gemstones having a total weight of 22.59 carats and diamonds weighing 14.52 carats. Alexandrite is the variety of chrysoberyl that displays a change-of-color from green to purplish red.

The aforementioned Van Cleef & Arpels diamond and pearl brooch is set in platinum. Its baguette diamonds weigh approximately 4.5 carats (estimate: $9,000-$11,000).

Another attention-getter is a pigeon’s blood ruby and diamond ring of 14K white gold (est. $47,000-$50,000).

The festive Cartier chrysoprase, coral and diamond ring from the 1990s is 18K gold (est. $7,000-$8,000).
Another Cartier treasure is a trademark Panthere hematite bangle in 18K yellow gold, also from the 1990s (est. $7,000-$8,000).

An 18-inch-long Chopard Casmir Paisley necklace is 18K solid gold weighing 190 grams (est. $20,000-$24,000).

A 5.55-carat Kashmir sapphire is the center of attention in a 14K white gold pendant on a chain. Around the oval center stone is a swirl of diamonds (est. $12,000-$15,000).
