Festive decorative arts to be offered at Capo Auction Dec. 16

NEW YORK – Just in time for the holidays, Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques will feature an unusual selection of decorative arts at their auction on Saturday, Dec. 16, offering silver, bronze, porcelain, fine jewelry, contemporary art and furniture. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Two of the outstanding items for holiday gift-giving include a Gardner Russian porcelain figural group (above), an allegorical scene of a young woman flanked by two young boys (est. $1,500-$2,000), and a 16-inch Tiffany Favrile glass vase (estimate: $1,000-$1,500).

Silver featured at Capo Auction includes an extensive Gorham sterling flatware service (below), Crown Baroque pattern, 6,174 grams (est. $3,000-$5,000); a Faberge silver rabbit figure with garnet eyes, marked 84 and Faberge and with a double-headed eagle, 150 grams (est. $400-$600); and a Russian silver cat with figure garnet eyes, marked 84 and IP, and mounted on an agate base with a silver bottom, 3 inches high, (est. $400-$600).

Highlighting the art arena is a pair Manner of Jacopo di Paolo Marieschi (Italian, 1711-1794), two scenes of Venice consist of a view of the Dogana with the Doge’s Palace and a street scene from the Doge’s Palace. Both are oil on board, sight: 21 1/4 by 31 inches, framed: 26 3/4 by 36 inches (est. $15,000- $20,000).

Additional decorative items are a Russian gilt bronze mounted mirror, Neoclassical style (below), 64 1/2 inches high by 49 inches wide (est. $8,000-$12,000), a bronze figure of Quanyin seated and holding a vase, 26 ½ inches high (est. $500-$700), two crystal candleholders, square with cutout corners, amber glass bottom, 16 inches (est. $300-$400), and a 15-inch-tall Chinese cloisonne vase with two dragon handeles and an allover floral decoration on a light blue ground (est. $100-$200).
