NEW YORK – Murder, mystery, suspense and voluptuous blondes are at the head of a Jasper52 online auction of movie poster and memorabilia auction taking place Tuesday, Sept. 3. The opening attraction is a one sheet poster for the 1953 feature Niagara starring Marilyn Monroe. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
“The film boasts two scenic marvels, Niagara Falls and M.M. in various states of undress. Steamy tail of a faithless wife (Monroe) who wants to do away with her jealous hubby,” according to Movies on TV and Videocassette by Steven H. Scheuer. The poster (above) is in very good condition with touch-ups noted. It displays rich color and the reclining full-length image of Monroe as part of the famous waterfalls existing as a veritable force of nature.
Science fiction fans will appreciate the poster for the 1957 classic The Incredible Shrinking Man, which depicts a scary encounter with a house cat (below). When Scott Carey begins to shrink because of exposure to a combination of radiation and insecticide, medical science is powerless to help him.
