NEW YORK – Doyle‘s auction of Important Jewelry, scheduled for Thursday, April 27 and starting at noon Eastern time, will showcase luxurious jewelry spanning the antique through modern eras by the world’s most prestigious makers, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, David Webb and Tiffany & Co. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Featured will be dazzling rings set with high-carat-weight diamonds in a variety of cuts, as well as necklaces, brooches and bracelets set with diamonds, colored stones, jade and natural pearls. The selection of luxury timepieces includes desk clocks by Cartier and also Ostertag, Vacheron & Constantin, as well as fine wristwatches by Patek Philippe, Piaget and Rolex. Featured in the sale is jewelry from the estate of Joan Reynolds Linclau.

Doyle will also offer property from a Westchester collector, a diverse collection of works lovingly acquired during the course of several decades in Switzerland, London and New York. Featured among a selection of fine clocks is a circa-1925 Ostertag, Vacheron & Constantin gold, tortoise shell, mother-of-pearl, abalone pearl, jasper, jade and black onyx miniature desk clock, estimated at $30,000-$50,000. This exquisite clock is signed by the Russian-born inlay artist Vladimir Makovsky, who fled to Paris during the Russian Revolution and was active from 1920 to the mid-1930s. Makovsky’s intricate work for such leading jewelers as Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels was inspired by Asian design and rarely appears on the auction market.
