The highlight of Freeman’s December 8 sale is a selection of furniture by renowned New Hope furniture maker George Nakashima, from a triple sliding-door hanging wall cabinet, estimated at $30,000-$50,000, to a walnut and rosewood Conoid dining table, estimated at $20,000-$30,000.
In addition to ample Nakashima collecting opportunities, Art and Design offers a cabinet by James Martin, estimated at $10,000-$15,000; a Paul Evans Skyline coffee table, estimated at $6,000-$8,000; and a Warren Platner dining table and six dining chairs, estimated at $6,000-$8,000.
Classic favrile Tiffany Studios desk and table lamps from the estate of Gabriele Lee highlight the sale, including a Jeweled Turtleback lamp estimated at $8,000-$12,000, and a Colonial lamp estimated at $8,000-$12,000.
Iron “sketches” by Samuel Yellin include his study for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, estimated at $8,000-$12,000, and his study for the New York City Central Savings Bank, estimated at $6,000-$8,000.
Paintings, works on paper, and prints and multiples by leading artists will be on offer, from Warren Rohrer’s Crawling Landscape, which carries an estimate of $10,000-$15,000, to Pablo Picasso’s Buste d’Homme, estimated at $3,000-$5,000, and Alberto Giacometti’s Tete d’Homme, estimated at $3,000-$5,000.
Luxe: Boutique Jewelry
Freeman’s December 9 sale boasts many works highlighting the timeless diamond, led by a diamond and palladium Tiffany & Co. necklace, estimated at $5,500-$7,500.
Other notable pieces of diamond jewelry include a diamond and 18K white gold bracelet, estimated at $4,500-$6,500, and a diamond and 14K white gold riviere necklace, estimated at $4,500-$6,500.
Several handsome watches offer excellent collecting and gifting opportunities, from a Piaget 18K gold, lapis lazuli and diamond bracelet wristwatch, estimated at $6,000-$8,000, to a Patek Philippe 18K gold and enamel open face pocket watch, estimated at $2,500-$3,500, and an 18K gold chronograph strap wristwatch by Eberhard & Co., which is estimated at $2,500-$3,500.
