NEW YORK – Auctions at Showplace will conduct an auction of fine and decorative arts, furniture, lighting and more on Sunday, Oct. 21, beginning at noon Eastern time.  The top lot is expected to be a fine and large 19th-century Gustave Levy Paris Louis XV-manner gilt bronze mantel clock. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.Fine art offerings are particularly strong, and will include a number of bronzes, such as a Eugene Rossi bust of a young woman (below).

Paintings include an A. Rodetti 19th-century scene of the Grand Canal in Venice (below), a Feodor Syczkaw oil of a boy playing the balalaika, large society portrait of a lady in pearls and a Churchill Ettinger ski-themed oil on canvas and watercolor.

Jewelry and silver will offer a large Mughal 22K gold diamond and ruby pendant necklace, an 18K gold citrine and diamond leaf ring and several lots of Gorham St. Dunstan flatware.

Porcelain and crystal/glass will feature a rare set of Wedgwood platinum-painted dishware from the 1930s and two boxed Richard Ginori for Fornasetti “Soli” espresso sets.

Furniture standouts include a three-panel decoupage floor screen with bird imagery, an antique Italian carved cassone, a Queen Anne-style double bonnet secretary, four Eero Saarinen for Knoll Tulip side chairs, and an Eames for Herman Miller “LCW” plywood chair.

This auction has several rare items: a Civil War Model 1850 officer’s sword by Collins & Co., dated 1862; a World War I Wilkinson 1908 Pattern cavalry trooper’s Mark 1 sword, and a 1914-1915 Josef Mueller Austrian gilded cast-iron patriotic military knight, sold to raise money for widows and orphans of the Great War.

Miscellaneous lots will include a pair of Louis XVI-manner gilt bronze wall sconces, a Neoclassical ormolu and alabaster garniture set, a Henri Verron Paris maritime ship’s bulkhead clock, a Rube Goldberg ink on paper cartoon, a Heriz serapi Persian carpet and a fine 19th-century American folk art full-body copper rooster weather vane.
