MT. CRAWFORD, Va. – The Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates Fall Fine & Decorative Arts Auction contains a wide selection of desirable material, from contemporary paperweights and Tiffany art glass to Mid-century Modern and Continental furniture. The auction will take place during three days: Thursday, October 13; Friday, October 14; and Saturday, October 15. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Thursday’s session, which will begin at 9 am Eastern time, features the paperweight collection of Ben Fields of Fort Worth, Texas. It consists of an outstanding group of paperweights and related studio glass objects, including examples – many unique – by artists such as Paul Stankard, David Graeber, Chris Buzzini, Richard Loesel, Cathy Richardson, Mike Hunter, Debbie Tarsitano, Rick Ayotte, Melissa Ayotte and Parabelle. Highlights include a unique Chris Buzzini (American, b. 1949-) butterfly and bouquet lampwork paperweight, estimated at $3,000-$5,000; a Paul Stankard (American, b. 1943-) damselfly, fruit, and mask lampwork paperweight; a David Graeber (American, b. 1967-) salamander and eggs lampwork paperweight; and a Debbie Tarsitano (American, b. 1955-) snake charmer lampwork magnum paperweight.

Friday’s session, starting at 9 am Eastern time, features the miniature lamp collection of Bill and Carol Lindow of Shaker Heights, Ohio; the paperweight collection of Raymond Bally of Goshen, New York; property from the estate of Paul Windorf of Detroit; art glass from a private Kansas collection; and deaccessioned objects from the Bennington Museum in Bennington, Vermont.

The day’s offerings will include a large selection of glass, ceramic and metal miniature lamps and fairy lamps of all types; a large group of fine antique and vintage paperweights by makers such as Clichy, Baccarat, St. Louis, and the New England Glass Co.; American and European art glass, including examples by Daum Nancy, Galle and Tiffany; 18th- and 19th-century ceramics; and silver. Highlights include a Daum Nancy winter scene art glass cameo vase, estimated at $2,000-$3,000; a Clemens Friedell sterling silver compote in the Poppy pattern, estimated at $800-$1,200; an antique Russian lampwork art glass paperweight wax seal; and an English sterling silver serving tray with finely cast ornamentation.

Saturday’s session, Day Three, which commences at 9 am Eastern time, features property from the estate of Paul Windorf of Detroit; the collection of H. C. Stuart and Emily Cochran of Stuart House in Staunton, Virginia; the Bill and Nancy Wick collection of Port Royal, Virginia; property descended in the Ackerman-Cole family of Ashbury Park, New Jersey; and property from an important Roanoke, Virginia collection. The day’s offerings include a wide selection of paintings, prints and statuary; Asian material of all types; a fine selection of jewelry; furniture from Georgian to American Classical, Gothic and Victorian; antique Persian and Caucasian carpets; and Mid-century Modern material.

Highlights include a Jules Olitski (American, 1922-2007) abstract painting, titled Judah Smoke – 2; a French Sevres-style three-piece Dore bronze, porcelain and champleve clock and garniture set; a French Louis XV-style marquetry-inlaid and ormolu-mounted commode with Virginia Governor history, which carries an estimate of $2,000-$3,000; and a Joan Miro (Spanish, 1893-1983) signed and numbered lithograph, Le Cueilleuse D’Orange (The Orange Picker), estimated at $2,000-$3,000.
