NEW YORK – A striking 18K white gold, diamond and emerald ring in a puffed dome design, a fish-form brooch with an emerald tail, and an 18K gold halo bracelet with emeralds and diamonds will likely earn top-lot status at Jasper52’s Classic to Modern Jewelry and Stones auction, which will be conducted on Wednesday, April 26 beginning at 1 pm Eastern time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
The 513-lot sale promises classic to modern jewelry and stones, and while those loose gemstones are few, they are jaw-droppers. Among them are a GIA-certified 62.60-carat cushion cut natural blue tanzanite; a GIA-certified cushion cut natural aquamarine that weighs in at 157.55 carats, as well as a second GIA-certified aquamarine, this one with an emerald cut and a weight of 46.87 carats; and also a GIA-certified natural smoky quartz described as a museum specimen and weighing 1835.50 carats. And no, that is not a typo. It weighs 1835.50 carats. One of the images displayed with the lot shows an isolated hand wrapped around the massive smoky quartz full cut oval brilliant stone, which bulges past its grasp.
The sale lineup also boasts innovative jewelry designs as well as pieces that showcase less common stones. These include a 14K white gold swirl or snake ring, which coils upward until it meets a 1.60-carat emerald; a deep purple 37.23-carat natural amethyst showcased in a chunky 18K white gold and diamond cocktail ring; a pair of 18K white gold dangle earrings graced with natural jet black onyx; a vintage 18K gold and diamond ring that centers on a piece of natural purple jade; a GIA-certified 26.31-carat natural red spessartite garnet set in an 18K gold and diamond band; and a 14K white gold ring that unites a 10-carat black sapphire with a pair of pink sapphires that together weigh three carats.
Those keen on green will be more than satisfied with the April 26 sale’s highlights. First among them is an 18K white gold, diamond and emerald ring in what’s called a puffed dome design, which places the full cut brilliant pear-shape 3.10-carat emerald in the center of what looks like a cocoon made from 14.50 carats’ worth of diamonds. The ring carries an estimate of $18,000-$22,000.
The catch of the day is, clearly, a fish-form pendant fashioned from 18K gold, Akoya pearl, sapphire, emerald, diamonds and enamel. Its estimate is $13,000-$16,000.
Equally worthy of mention is an 18K gold halo bracelet graced with 15 Zambian green emeralds as well as diamonds of VS-2 clarity and F and G colors. It has an estimate of $17,000-$22,000.
