FORT MYERS, Fla. – GulfCoast Coin & Auction will host the third annual Valentine’s for Veterans benefit auction in conjunction with the Bonita Bay Veterans Council, on Saturday, Feb. 2. More than 900 lots comprise this auction of rare coins and currency, jewelry, diamonds, fine art and collectibles. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

A cocktail party will take place Friday, Feb. 1, during the preview at GulfCoast Coin & Jewelry, 14181 S. Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers, FL 33912.

With spring training opening in February, baseball fans will take note of an authenticated 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers team-signed baseball in the sale, which is expected to raise $3,000-$4,000. Signatures include Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, Don Drysdale and manager Walter Alston. The defending champion Dodgers edged out the Milwaukee Braves to win the National League pennant again, only to lose the 1956 World Series to the New York Yankees in seven games.

Also offered is a Honus Wagner autographed baseball also signed by several of the 1941 Pittsburgh Pirates (est. $5,000-$6,000). Wagner retired in 1917 but remained with the Pirates as a coach for the next 39 years. He was among the first five players inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.

The jewelry highlight of the sale is an 18K white gold diamond collar necklace featuring invisible set princess cut diamonds weighing approximately 13.08 carats. It has a $15,525-$20,525.

An 1882 U.S. Trade Dollar proof coin going up for bid is rated PR64 DCAM by PCGS. Only 1,097 1882 Trade Dollar proof coin were minted, and this one carries the DCAM (deep cameo) designation (est. $6,200-$7,200).

Several Lladro figurines are offered including William Shakespeare, which was in limited production from 1976 until it was retired in 1985. The 13-inch-tall seated figure is numbered 1053/1200 (est. $1,400-$1,700).
