Hake’s Merkin baseball memorabilia auction winds up Feb. 5

YORK, Pa. – Hake’s Auctions has opened an online-only auction event of baseball artifacts from the Richard Merkin collection. Postcards, photos, autographs, 77 SGC-graded baseball cards and more make up the over 200-lot auction. It includes examples from Major League Baseball, the minors, Cuban, Negro, Japanese, industrial and other leagues. All lots start at just $1 and will be taking bids until Wednesday, Feb. 5. Some of the 1923-1924 Billiken cards include Jakie May SGC 60 EX 5 (below), Freddie Fitzsimmons SGC 40 VG 3, and Ernie Krueger SGC 30 Good 2.

Additional baseball card examples are the 1926-1927 Aguilitas #826 Pelayo Chacon SGC 30 Good 2; 1948 Kellogg’s postcard Roberto Ortiz SGC 40 VG 3 280; 1949 Menko JCM45 Nagy/Rocco SGC 50 VG/EX 4; and 1949-1950 Acebo Pedro Formental blank back variant SGC 20 Fair 1.5.

A circa 1913 Denver Bears baseball team real photo postcard and 1909 Rochester Hustlers baseball team real photo postcard also represent full team images.

Photos featuring single players include a Joe DiMaggio signed photo, an early 1930s New York Giants Bill Terry snapshot photo, a circa 1910s John McGraw New York Giants press photo, and a circa 1940s Martin Dihigo press photo.
