SUNRISE, Fla. – Hill Auction Gallery has traveled the world to produce an auction catalog ranging from early Chinese through Victorian, Belle Epoque to Art Deco, mid-century modern to everything that encompasses the last century. The 400-lot fine art and antiques auction will be conducted Feb. 15. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Topping the “fresh-to-market” offerings is an original Pablo Picasso drawing (above) and an accompanying glass art Vase Burlesque (below) designed by Picasso.

Picasso (1881-1973, Spain/France) used crayon to draw a picture of the Anfora Burlesca vase for Egidio Constantini to be sculpted in glass. The drawing is signed at the upper right “Vallauris 4.8.54.” The work bears a Galerie d’Eendt NV Amsterdam art gallery label verso. The consignor acquired the drawing directly from the gallery in the 1970s. It is presented in a frame measuring 18 by 15 1/2 inches.

Also held in the private collection of a prominent Manhattan/Miami socialite since the 1970s is the Picasso-designed Vase Burlesque. The colored glass vase was crafted in Murano, Italy by Egidio Constantini under the supervision of Picasso. It is one of only three made; this vase, one for Peggy Guggenheim and one for Picasso. This vase was purchased from Sotheby Park Bernet sale number 3652 on June 6, 1974.
