CHICAGO – On September 24, Hindman Auction will offer property from the Halim Time & Glass Museum in Evanston, Illinois. The auction will feature a selection of the Museum’s renowned collection of antique clocks and glass art from one of North America’s foremost collectors. Its holdings are an outstanding example of a foremost assemblage of Chinese glass and timepieces. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.


Notable Clocks

Impressive clocks to be offered include a fine Chinese ormolu, enamel and paste-set striking, musical and automaton clock that carries an estimate of $40,000-$60,000, and a Chinese ormolu quarter-striking, musical and automaton ‘acrobat’ mantel clock estimated at $30,000-$50,000.

A French gilt bronze ‘singing bird’ automaton mantel clock with attribution to Bontems is estimated at $20,000-$30,000, and a Chinese mother-of-pearl inlaid sandalwood ‘longevity’ mantel clock, estimated at $20,000-$30,000, are two other exquisite lots.

Glass Art

A stunning selection of glass art will be presented, including an unusual 18th-century Chinese red, blue and yellow overlay semi-opaque white glass amphora vase and stand, estimated at $15,000-$20,000.

Additional highlights include a fine Chinese Kangxi period blue and white ‘figure’ brushpot, included in a lot made up of three Chinese blue and white porcelain wares collectively estimated at $10,000-$20,000, and two Chinese blue and white porcelain yen-yen vases that bear the same estimate.
