PALM BEACH, Fla. – Hindman Auctions will offer property from Casa de Suenos, a historic Miami Beach estate, in an exclusive single-owner sale on May 31. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
A 1930s Mediterranean Revival home overlooking Biscayne Bay, the house was originally built for a president of General Motors and then acquired in the late 1990s by the current owners Loren and J.R. Ridinger. The couple are the founders of Market America — a product brokerage and internet marketing company — and Loren is also a distinguished fashion, beauty and business leader recognized by Vogue, Haute Living and Forbes.
Bidders will have the opportunity to acquire furniture, art and decorative objects that the couple collected during the past 20 years, forming a dynamic assemblage that served as the foundation of a contemporary life.
“The furniture and decorative arts from this collection tell the story of living in a truly remarkable place,” said Hindman’s Vice President for Furniture & Decorative Arts Corbin Horn. “We are delighted to provide bidders their own chance to be inspired by the house’s grand legacy.”
Top lots in the auction include a Louis XVI-style gilt bronze mounted kingwood and marquetry marble-top commode, estimated at $10,000-$20,000; an 18th- or 19th-century Italian carved giltwood bedstead with baldachin, headboard and drapes, estimated at $8,000-$12,000; an Italian carved rouge marble bath tub, estimated at $8,000-$12,000; and a Regence-style gilt bronze mounted mahogany marble-top commode, estimated at $5,000-$7,000.
