ATLANTA – On October 13, Hindman Auctions will present an Atlanta Collections auction, which will feature a wide assortment of decorative arts, furniture and fine art from prominent collections. Collections to be featured include decorative objects and furniture from the property from the estate of Susan Tucker of Atlanta, Georgia, fine British watercolors from the collection of F. Alan Cummings of Tallahassee, Florida and continental furniture from the estate of Emily Bourne Grigsby of Atlanta, Georgia. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Among the items to be offered are decorative arts and furniture from the estate of Susan Tucker of Atlanta, Georgia. Known for her poise, sophistication and prominent role in Atlanta society, Tucker was a passionate supporter of the arts. She was Chairman of the Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Georgia, in addition to serving on the Boards of Directors of the Forward Arts Foundation, Blerancourt Museum of French-American History, French Heritage Society Atlanta Chapter, national Board of Friends of Vieilles Maisons Francaises, Georgia Committee of National Museum of Women in the Arts and Michael C. Carlos Museum. Highlights from the collection include a Chinese Chippendale-style giltwood mirror and an Italian Baroque-style giltwood mirror. Chairs, lighting and artwork are also included in the offering.

Property from the estate of Emily Bourne Grigsby, a painter, writer and dancer from Atlanta, Georgia, will be featured. Notable lots from the estate include a Louis XV/XVI transitional-style marble-top and marquetry commode, estimated at $2,000-$4,000, and a Napoleon III-style brass and tortoise shell inlaid center table, estimated at $1,000-$2,000. A wide range of chairs, tables and commodes in varying styles will also be offered.

A collection of 38 fine 19th- and 20th-century British watercolors from the collection of F. Alan Cummings of Tallahassee, Florida, will be offered. Highlights feature British country life, marine and seascapes, religious works, portraits and still life. Artists include William Callow, David Cox, Copley Fielding, William Henry Hunt and John Varley. Noteworthy works include William Callow’s Fishing Boats at Sea, estimated at $2,000-$3,000; William Henry Hunt’s Lady Reclining on a Sofa, estimated at $2,000-$3,000, A Woman of Fashion, estimated at $2,000-$3,000, and A Lady in a Yellow Dress Seated in a Chair, estimated at $2,000-$3,000.

Art and photography from regional artists from the corporate art collection of DLA Piper, Atlanta, Georgia, will be offered, including a number of artists from the Atlanta region. The selection includes photography of iconic 1996 Atlanta Olympics structures.
