Mesinger, who died in 2001, was a native Houstonian who wrote her society column for 45 years, quitting only two weeks before she died of complications from multiple sclerosis.
The Houston Chronicle reports her collections of art, antiques, mementos and photos of Hollywood stars will go up for auction Oct. 26 at Houston’s Morton Auctioneers and Appraisers. Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Her children, Jay and Julianne Mesinger, decided to auction the items following the death of their father in June.
Jay Mesinger, who has childhood memories of visiting stars including Frank Sinatra, Tommy Tune and Liza Minnelli, says it wasn’t uncommon “to wake up in the middle of the night to rousing laughter.”
