Selected highlights from the July 22 sale include:
Horses at the Watering Hole, an oil on canvas by Clayton Sumner Price (1874-1950). It is signed at the lower left, framed and in good condition. Its estimate is $8,000-$12,000.
Ira Yeager’s (1938-2022) undated White duck in a circle of flowers carries an estimate of $8,000-$10,000. Yeager signed the oil and acrylic on canvas at the lower right. The piece is large, measuring 71 1/2 by 71 1/2in.
Also on offer is a carousel horse dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Painted gray and depicted in a running pose, the horse has an open mouth, a flying tail, a red saddle and a colorfully painted decorative blanket. It measures 30in high by 48in long by 10in wide, and its condition reflects wear, with spots of paint or surface loss, some cracks in the wood, and evidence of old repairs. It has an estimate of $2,000-$3,000.
Another standout is a bronze Buddha figure sporting a halo and seated on a rock form, with five kneeling monks on the base. Its condition is good, with presence of a patina, and it measures 19 3/4 by 12 by 12in. Its estimate is $2,000-$4,000.
Lot 243 is Miguel Berrocal’s bronze Micro David-Off puzzle pendant, estimated at $300-$500. Miguel Berrocal (1933-2006) was a Spanish sculptor known for puzzle sculptures he designed and produced in the 1960-70s. Working primarily in France and Italy, his large-scale installations spanned the globe. The sculptural puzzle pendant that appears in the July 22 sale is designed as a male torso and has a ring at the center. It is signed on the shoulder and comes with its original fitted box and instruction booklet. It shows moderate wear in the form of oxidation, and some scratching is evident.
Completing the highlights is Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s (1928-2000) Irinaland over the Balkans, which appears as plate 7 in his 1971-72 work Look at it on a Rainy Day. The color screenprint with metallic embossing on wove paper is unsigned and stamp numbered 0263/3000 and 0237/3000; only 300 prints from the edition were signed. It was published by Ars Viva, Zurich/Dietz Offizin of Lengmoos, Bavaria and is in good condition. Its estimate is $1,500-$2,000.
