Italian glass chandeliers add elegance to Nova Ars design auction Aug. 23

ASTI, Italy – Mid-century modern chandeliers by Venini and Barovier e Toso are two of the many highlights in a Nova Ars online auction Aug. 23. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The auction will also include decorative arts of 20th century: ceramics, furniture, glass and additional lighting. Many of the items were designed and made in Italy.
The 1960s Venini chandelier (above) features blown glass elements and has a metal base. It is expected to sell for €1,500–€1,800 ($1,770–$2,123).
The Barovier e Toso, chandelier (below) features blown glass Murano elements and measures more than 70 inches in diameter (est. €4,000–€5,000).

A Barnaba table lamp designed by Angelo Brotto for Esperia features handmade amber glass encased in a wire cage. The light beneath the amber glass creates a beautiful glow.

One of the furniture highlights is a pair of upholstered chairs designed by Alessandro Becchi for Giovannetti. Made in 1972, these rare chairs are marked “Giovannetti Le Bugie Disegno Alessandro Becchi.”
A sculpture by Victor Simonetti for Dino Gavina is marked “Centro Duchamps” on the base, which supports eight metal bars arranged horizontally.
