Jasper52 auction March 4 devoted to decorative art, silver
NEW YORK – Exquisite European ceramics, impressive sterling silver flatware and hollowware, and colorful Murano glass are among the unique treasures in a decorative art auction that will be conducted Wednesday, March 4, by Jasper52. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
Direct from a private mansion, Hotel Particulier in Paris, is a stunning antique gold-plated bronze mantel clock with two matching six-candle candelabra. This museum-quality Barbedienne-style garniture set, typical of those enjoyed by the kings and queens of Europe, carries a $39,000-$47,000 estimate.
Also from Paris is a six-piece Art Deco sterling silver tea/coffee set with a matching silver-plated tray. Each piece in this spectacular set is handmade and bears the hallmark of internationally known French silversmith Auguste Leroy, circa 1925. This elegant, privately commissioned Art Deco set is expected to sell for $8,000-$10,000.
Fine porcelain objects have been produced in Herend, Hungary since the 1830s. A large figurine depicting an Alpine skier is signed by the sculptor and dated 1941 (design date) on the side of the base. It is marked with the old Herend stamp from 1944 on the bottom (production date). The figurine is partially glazed porcelain; partially bisque. This outstanding piece is in excellent condition and estimated at $2,000-$3,000.
A brand-new set of 18 hand-painted Herend plates in the Queen Victoria pattern is offered at $2,500-$3,000.
Ten lots of Murano glass are offered including a blown Sommerso-style vase, which features an initial mass of cyan glass that is covered with a second mass of crystal. The nearly 9-inch-tall vase has a $600-$700 estimate.
The Jasper52 auction of outstanding decorative art and silver will be held Wednesday, March 4, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
