NEW YORK – An array of beautiful and functional decorative objects is available in a Jasper52 online auction taking place Tuesday, Jan. 2. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Sterling silver, crystal, porcelain, mid-century lighting and even hammocks are among the unique treasures in this sale.
A 19th-century Austria-Hungarian five-piece tea and coffee service (above) in .950 silver is one of the top lots in the auction. The silversmith is identified as “EP.” The set, which weighs 82.44 troy ounces, is expected to sell $3,000-$3,500.
Also from the late 19th century is a French newel post finial in amethyst glass cut to clear (below). With its original bronze mount marked “Made in France,” the finial stands 6 inches high. It has a $550-$650 estimate.
Two 13 ½-inch French porcelain Aesthetic Period vases are beautifully hand-painted with birds and flowers. Each has an inset image of ships, mountains and trees. The pair is estimated at $1,800-$2,000.
Several pieces of Steuben and Baccarat crystal stemware are offered in the sale.
A laminated rosewood Butterfly Stool, designed by Sori Yanagi (1915-2011) for Tendo, is expected to sell for $500-$550.
Two hammocks of woven maguey fibers featuring Alexander Calder artwork are featured. These rare pieces date to the mid-1970s and are estimated at $1,500-$1,700 each.
The Jasper52 auction will begin Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. Eastern.
