NEW YORK – Jasper52’s auction of paintings and prints on Tuesday, Dec. 19, gives art lovers an opportunity to decorate their homes with beautiful works by 20th-century masters. The 39-lot offering features the works of Banksy, Jeff Koons, Chuck Close, Jasper Johns and many more. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The auction will open with a lithograph titled Femme au Chapeau (Woman with a Hat) after Henri Matisse, a subject the artist visited often. The color litho (above) was printed in 1939 by Mourlot in an unknown edition size. It is unframed but in near-mint condition with only light signs of handling (est. $400-$500).

The highest estimate in the auction, $2,800-$3,000, goes to British street artist Banksy’s Dismaland stenciled dollar bills (below). The three dollar bills are framed but their original envelopes are included. These rare works were purchased at a memorable Banksy exhibition in 2015 and sold out in the first hour. Dismaland was a temporary art project organized by Banksy and constructed in the seaside resort town of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England. The pop-up exhibition was “a sinister twist on Disneyland” that opened during the weekend of Aug. 21, 2015, and closed 36 days later.
