NEW YORK – An extraordinary multistone diamond and gold dolphin brooch – designed by Parisian artist and jeweler Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. – highlights more than 1,300 lots in Heritage Auctions’ first fine jewelry auction of the year. The April 19 auction in New York draws together large-carat colored diamonds, Burma rubies and sapphires, and unmounted gemstones for an event in which color is king.
“The market demand for large, colorful pieces is particularly strong and at 5.45 total carats, the iconic Jean Schlumberger dolphin brooch (above) is likely to spark serious interest,” said Jill Burgum, senior director of fine jewelry at Heritage Auctions. “This auction is bursting with colorful showpieces.”
