MOUNT CRAWFORD, Va. – The Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates Winter Americana Auction contains a wide range of material and will include everything from rare advertising and holiday collectibles to country furniture and folk art. Thursday’s session, beginning at 9:30 a.m. EST, will feature part two of the James Dunn Collection, Springfield, Vt.; material from the private collection of the late Alvina Breckel, Oley, Pa., and Winnetka, Ill.; the estate collection of Mary Poole, Waynesboro, Va.; the John and late Evelyn Teague collection, Bloomingdale, Ind.; property deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, Va.; and property deaccessioned by the Strong National Museum of Play, Rochester, N.Y.
The day’s offerings will consist of a wide range of ceramics, including rare R.S. Prussia and a large selection of Staffordshire figures and transferware; jewelry, including Bakelite examples; antique and vintage costumes; art pottery; silver; textiles, including quilts, samplers, sewing articles, and other needlework.
Friday’s session, beginning at 9:30 a.m., features material from the estate collection of Alan R. Shirkey, Harrisonburg, Va.; a Pennsylvania private collection; the collection of Edwina and the late Bernard Bishop, Williamsburg, Va; property from the Hammond, Revercomb, and Deyerle Families, Covington, Va.; a more of the estate collection of Mary Poole, Waynesboro, Va.
The day’s offerings will consist of rare advertising and country store material, including signs; railroad collectibles and early transportation photographs; antique and vintage toys; a large collection of antique and vintage sports cards; holiday collectibles, including several rare Belsnickel/Santa candy containers; a wide selection of ephemera and manuscript material, including a collection of postcards and Shenandoah Valley paper of all types; collections of bleeders, pie crimpers and nutmeg graters; a library of Shenandoah Valley history volumes; and a large selection of bottles, including fruit jars and Shenandoah Valley examples.
Saturday’s session, beginning at 9:30 a.m., features property from the collection of Dan Wagoner, Romney, W.Va. and New York, N.Y.; the collection of the late Hugh Wornom, Poquoson, Va.; and more from the Shirkey, Bishop and Poole estate collections.
The day’s offerings will consist of Shenandoah Valley and other American folk pottery; country furniture and accessories, including boxes and baskets; other furniture, including stacked bookcases and Victorian; folk and outsider art; fishing collectibles; Civil War and other historical material; and antiquarian books.
