Jewelry, Asian arts among major items at Rago auction April 15-17

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold auction on April 15, 16 and 17 featuring furniture and decorative arts, jewelry, Asian, coins, Americana, fashion and more. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide absentee and Internet live bidding.

Fine and antique jewelry, watches and objets de vertu will sell Wednesday starting at 11 a.m. Eastern. More than 150 lots of coins and currency will follow immediately. Over 300 unreserved lots of jewelry, watches and couture will cross Rago’s auction block on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. Rago’s Great Estates Auction on Friday will consist of more than 1,200 lots ranging from Asian arts to European decorative arts and beyond. That session will begin at 10 a.m.

The jewelry auction will feature several lots by Tiffany & Co., such as lot 171, a lime green Paillonné enameled gold diamond bracelet by designer Jean Schlumberger, which has a $28,000-$34,000 estimate.

Expected to be the top earner in the coins and currency sale is a U.S. 1839-D gold $2.50 coin, which is estimated at $20,000-30,000.

Most unusual among the Asian items is a menacing Japanese Myochin School iron articulated snake, which is expected to bring $50,000-$70,000.
