Jewelry, fine art atop holiday fare at Showplace sale Dec. 16

NEW YORK – On Sunday, Dec. 16, Showplace will auction 352 items of fine and decorative arts, furniture, lighting and more, beginning at noon Eastern time. The top lot is a Graff London platinum, diamond and cultured South Sea pearl necklace. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Just in time for the holidays, Showplace will offer an extensive selection of jewelry including the aforementioned Graff platinum necklace (above) having approximately 3 carats total diamond weight. Additional highlights are a 10K white gold black opal and diamond ring and a 14K gold mesh purse with diamonds.

Silver includes an Old Colonial flatware service by Towle, a Lord Robert pattern Regency-manner coffee service by International Silver Co. and a Frank Sanborn Baroque-manner large salt in the form of a sailing ship (below).

Porcelain will feature a Karl Grossl Czechoslovakian Art Deco terracotta wall plaque, Paul Millet Art Deco Sevres ceramics and a Continental white parian bisque centerpiece supported by putti.

Art glass is highlighted by a Tiffany Favrile pulled-feather vase, a pair of glass gem-studded Bohemian goblets hand-painted with lovely women, and Italian Venini mid-century modern handkerchief bowl.

Fine art offerings on display include two antique B. Patersson watercolor/etchings with Russian themes, a pre-Raphaelite drawing attributed to Sir Edward Burne-Jones of a seated woman and an Allen Tucker Woman at the Ballet oil on canvas.

Three-dimensional artworks include a Germaine Vuillequez Modernist abstract pink marble sculpture, an Adolfo Passarella Brutalist bronze sculpture and an H. Marlow contemporary white marble sculpture.

Chinese art features a Qing Dynasty silk on silk embroidered panel, a mottled red and black baluster vase and a carved celadon reticulated jade disc.

Furniture includes a pair of Regency English exotic wood pedestal cabinets, Sheraton tall-case clock, a Samson Berman mid-century modern table with inset planter and pair of marble-top mid-century modern end tables.

Miscellaneous lots include a fine American molded copper running horse weathervane, English Regency patinated bronze tazza compotes and an Italian Murano chandelier light fixture styled as a grape cluster.
