CLAYTON, N.Y. – A July 31 auction of antique and vintage boats is one of the top highlights scheduled for the 46th Annual Antique Boat Show taking place in Clayton, New York, on the southern bank of the St. Lawrence River. Internet live bidding during the boat auction will be provided by LiveAuctioneers.com.

The boat show, which runs from July 30 through Aug. 1, 2010, is the oldest event of its type in the United States. It benefits the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, arguably the finest freshwater wooden boat museum in the country. The not-for-profit institution’s permanent collection includes early launches, runabouts, St. Lawrence skiffs, outboard motors and engines.

A significant portion of the museum’s operating revenue is derived from the Annual Antique Boat Show and Auction. Held annually since 1985, the auction averages 50 antique boat consignments and in the past has drawn more than 600 potential bidders per edition.

The Saturday, July 31 auction, which will be conducted by Antique Boat America, includes a fantastic fleet of boats of all lengths, shapes and ages. Star lots include a 19ft. Chris-Craft barrel-back replica, a 1947 Chris-Craft Rocket, country singer Alan Jackson’s 1956 Boesch St. Tropez, and a stunning 1979 Fish Bros. Delphine IV Gold Cup replica. The auction will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.

As many as 10,000 antique boat enthusiasts have attended past editions of the three-day show. Throughout this year’s three-day event, the museum’s campus will serve as a showcase for beautiful antique and classic boats, with this year’s special feature being Gar wood boats.
