BEVERLY, Mass. – A 1956 Mercury Montclair Phaeton previously shown by Bob Leslie of Lexington, Massachusetts, along with his extensive collection of vintage signs, oil cans, gas pumps and hood ornaments will feature at Kaminski’s Aug. 9 auction. The sale will also showcase two other important collections, to include decorative porcelain and celebrity ephemera from the estate of Jess Rand of Santa Barbara, California.

The 1956 Mercury Montclair Phaeton (below) is a four-door model with a restored V-8 engine and automatic transmission – ready to show. It has been described as having “burly good looks with just enough period flash.” Collector interest in this model is strong as only 23,493 of the 1956 hardtop model were produced. The estimate on the car is $20,000-$40,000.

Automobile and antique toy memorabilia enthusiasts will not want to miss this collection which includes an interesting mechanic’s stacking toolbox, antique toy trucks, vintage signs, oil cans, gas pumps, hood ornaments, a pair of Rayo driving lamps, a 1968 Official Matchbox collector’s case with 72 cars and trucks and much more.

The collection of decorative porcelain includes Royal Crown Derby, Boehm and Connoisseur of Malvern plates, figures and flowers. Of special interest are 13 Royal Doulton “Williamsburg” soldier porcelain figures representing the thirteen Colonies edition of 350, all with stands. The largest measures 15 inches high and the collection is estimated at $10,000-$15,000.

An important late 19th century Native American storage basket with geometric patterns is valued at $2,000-$4,000.
