Kaminski to auction estate of porcelain kingpin Feb. 22-23

BEVERLY, Mass. – Kaminski Auctions’ Feb. 22 sale features fine Asian antiques, while on Feb. 23, Kaminski will present the estate of Alfreda Rochelle Thomas, wife of Alfred Peter Rochelle Thomas of the famous antique porcelain company of J. Rochelle Thomas of Palm Beach, Florida, and New York City. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

Established in 1859 in London, by his great grandfather, Peter Rochelle Thomas later opened a gallery at 208 Worth Ave. in Palm Beach. With over 125 years in business Rochelle Thomas represented one of the largest collections of English, Continental, Russian and Chinese Export antique dinner and dessert services in the world.

Purveyors to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and the late Queen Mary, Rochelle Thomas held royal warrants to both monarchs. Over the years the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and the Duke and Duchess of Kent were among their many famous clients. Other clients included Jackie Kennedy while she was First Lady, Nelson and David Rockefeller, and Samuel Goldwyn of MGM studios.

For over 100 years they contributed to the establishment of many private and museum collections in Europe, America and those of the Royal Family of Great Britain.

Among the numerous lots of exquisite porcelain and furnishings is a collection purchased from the estate of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII.
