CHICAGO – In tune with the change of seasons, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers will focus on women’s fashions on Wednesday, Aug. 29, with a Vintage Couture and Luxury Accessories auction in the morning and a Fall Fashion session that afternoon. The Vintage Couture and Luxury Accessories sale will begin at 10 a.m. Central Time/11 a.m. Eastern.
Topping the sale catalog is a stunning Christian Dior black and white silk Odette gown from Autumn/Winter 1953. The strapless gown (above) is multilayered with an interior boned bodice, a full A-line skirt with back inverted pleats and a back zip closure. The gown is labeled “Christian Dior” and has a tape number 38364. It is expected to sell for $4,000 to $6,000.
A Galanos gold lamé and black tulle evening gown having a gold sequin empire waistband and spaghetti straps comes with a matching open front bolero jacket. Labeled “Galanos,” the outfit has a $1,000-$2,000 estimate.
Handbags abound in the auction, led by a Chanel black lambskin quilted tote bag from 2004-2005. It features goldtone hardware, tan contrast stitching, dual leather woven chain shoulder straps, front and back exterior pockets, a top interior snap closure and one interior zip pocket (est. $1,800-2,800).
An Iradj Moini ruby and gemstone necklace is festooned with many strands of rutilated quartz (est. $1,500-2,500).
The Fall Fashion and Accessories auction features a Chanel red boucle skirt suit (est. $200-$400).
A signed Judith Leiber black and silver leather bag with silvertone hardware and decorative silver and rhinestone front flap turn clasp also has a $200-$400 estimate.
