LOS ANGELES – Linwoods Auction, in conjunction with Dynasty Auctions, will conduct an auction of the Taoran Studio Collection of high quality Chinese fine art on Sunday, June 25, beginning at 6 p.m. Pacific time. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

With a range of pieces spanning more than 10 centuries, the auction is billed as one of the finest collections of Chinese art to be held on the West Coast this year. “We are delighted to be able to bring together this outstanding collection for sale,” said Linwoods curator Lisal Ong. “Many of these lots rarely come to market, and we are honored to be able to showcase the work of some of the most renowned Chinese sculptors and artists.”

Stunning artifacts for sale include Lot 904, a beautiful robin’s egg glazed porcelain vase (above) from the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty. The exterior coated in a vivid application of a finely mottled turquoise blue glaze.

Lot 804 is a charming ink and color piece on silk, from the renowned 10th-century artist Huang Jucai. He was the son of a well-known painter of flowers and birds, and Huang himself became a renowned specialist in flowers, birds and landscapes. The work features three ducks sheltering under hanging branches, while grouped together on the artist’s signature smoothly contoured rocks.
