ALHAMBRA, Calif. – Linwoods Art Appraisal and Auction House will conduct its inaugural sale of decorative arts, collectibles and fine art masterpieces on Saturday June 29 at its showroom gallery in Alhambra, California. Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.com.

This inaugural auction brings together the positive collaboration of seasoned art appraiser and dealer Thomas Lin with the multigenerational Woods auction house of Florida. The auction house will offer a variety of Chinese arts and antiquities, stamp collections, precious stones and rare furnishings at the one-day event. Auction items include a wide variety of porcelain works, jade and soapstone carvings, precious gemstones, scroll paintings, sculptures and museum-worthy furniture pieces.

“We will strive to put forward an array of strong and unique pieces,” said curator Lisal Ong. The seasoned collector will no doubt recognize the tremendous value of the starting bids on a number of lots. It’s an excellent opportunity to acquire a few meaningful pieces at unprecedented price points.”

One such example from the June 29 auction is Lot 2024, an exceptionally rare porcelain plaque painting with the seal mark and calligraphy of Wang Qi from the Republic period, featuring an innocent young maiden led through the forest by an earth demon.

Also noteworthy, is a sumptuous collection of Chinese silk embroidered female courtier robes from the Qing dynasty in resplendent colors with elaborate detailing. This wardrobe assembly has been amassed by a well-known lifetime collector from San Francisco. (Lots 2146-2156)

Another cornerstone of the day’s offerings (Lots 2241-2290) comprises a vast array of scroll paintings assembled over three generations by a family of collectors. Many of the scrolls are signed by famous artists and feature landscapes, wildlife, and floral displays.

Prominent among the offerings of museum-worthy Asian furnishings is Lot 2116, a pair of huanghuali horseshoe-back chairs, with exquisite carved detailing in the back slats, and silk cushions. The chairs are complemented by a huanghuali tea table.

The proprietors of Linwoods have married their mutually held passion for collectibles with decades of expert sales and acquisitions for their growing network of international clients. With promising first year preparations in Southern California, they have plans in place for monthly in-house auctions. Many new clients have come to know the burgeoning auction house through online catalogs posted on LiveAuctioneers.com.

The Saturday June 29 auction event will begin at 1 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Pre-auction viewing days are scheduled for: Wednesday, June 26; Thursday, June 27; and Friday, June 28.
